Squall · Privacy Policy
We need as little of your data as possible.
Last updated: 24 June 2026
Squall (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a workout interval timer published by Salt & Co. Design Partners (“the developer”). We designed Squall to need as little of your data as possible. This policy explains what the app handles and what it does not.
The short version
- We have no servers and no accounts. You don't sign up, and we never see your data.
- Your workout history lives on your device, and — if you turn on iCloud — in your own private iCloud account, which only you can access.
- We don't sell your data. Ever.
- On the free tier, we show ads served by Google AdMob, which may collect limited data as described below. Squall Pro removes all ads.
What data Squall handles
Workout data you create
Timer configurations, saved presets, and completed-workout logs (type, date, duration, rounds, splits, your optional notes and RPE). This is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData).
iCloud sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud sync, your workout data is stored in your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database so it can appear on your other devices. This data is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. The developer has no access to it and cannot read, share, or sell it. You can turn sync off at any time.
Settings & preferences
Your audio, haptic, theme, and default-workout preferences are stored locally on your device so the app behaves the way you set it.
Purchases (Squall Pro)
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the entitlement status needed to unlock Pro features. We never receive or store your payment-card details.
Advertising (free tier only)
The free tier displays ads via the Google AdMob SDK. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect device and usage information such as a device/advertising identifier, approximate (non-precise) location, and ad-interaction data. This processing is governed by Google's policies.
- On iOS, personalized advertising is shown only with your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, ads are non-personalized.
- Squall Pro removes all ads and the advertising SDK's ad requests.
- Ads are never shown during or around an active or paused workout.
What we do NOT do
- We do not require an account or collect your name, email, or contacts (emailing support is your choice and uses your own mail app).
- We do not access your microphone, camera, photos, or precise location. Voice cues are generated on-device by Apple's text-to-speech; Siri control uses Apple's App Intents and does not give the app microphone access.
- We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Data retention & deletion
Your workout history stays until you delete it. You can clear all history from Settings → Data → Clear history, and delete the rest by removing the app. If iCloud sync is on, deleting also removes the data from your private iCloud database.
Children's privacy
Squall is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Your rights
Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, you remain in direct control of it. For any privacy question or request, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Squall handles data, we'll update this page and its “Last updated” date, and note material changes in the App Store release notes.
