Salt and Co. Releases Squall, the Beautiful, Reliable WOD and Interval Timer for iPhone and Apple Watch
The functional-fitness timer pairs every workout format athletes actually use with Apple Health integration and music that stays yours — now available worldwide on the App Store.
VIRGINIA, USA — JULY 7, 2026 — Salt and Co. Design Partners today announced the launch of Squall, a WOD (Workout-Of-the-Day) and interval timer for iPhone and Apple Watch, now available worldwide on the App Store. Built for the box, the garage gym, and everywhere athletes train against the clock, Squall pairs every timer format functional fitness actually uses with the reliability a workout depends on — in an app made to be genuinely beautiful.
Functional-fitness timers are a crowded category, and most of them get in the way of the work: ads between rounds, cluttered screens, and Apple Watch apps that drop the connection at the worst possible moment. Squall was built as the antidote — a timer calm enough to disappear into the workout, and reliable enough to trust with the round that counts.
Every timer the workout needs
Squall covers the full range of formats athletes program around — AMRAP, EMOM, Tabata, intervals, for-time, and fully custom sequences — with a clarity that reads at a glance from across the gym. On Apple Watch it runs as a first-class companion, so the timer lives on the wrist where the work happens, not stranded on a phone across the room.
A new clock face every month
Squall's timer is made to be looked at — from across the gym, mid-effort, at a glance — so it is designed to be genuinely beautiful. Every month brings a new clock face, some free for everyone and some included with Squall Pro, so the timer an athlete trains with keeps evolving instead of going stale.
Health data in Apple Health, and music that stays yours
Squall writes heart rate and calories straight into Apple Health, so every session lands alongside the rest of an athlete's training and recovery data. And because it never takes over playback, the music someone already trains to keeps running — Squall works alongside it, not on top of it.
Reliable by design, private by default
Squall is delivered only through the App Store, where every release is reviewed and code-signed by Apple — so the build an athlete installs is verified, untampered, and the right one for their device. There are no accounts to create: workout history stays on the device, and Apple Health data never leaves it. The free tier is supported by ads that never appear during or around a workout, and Squall Pro removes them entirely.
“Every timer we tried got in the way of the workout — ads between rounds, clutter on the screen, or a watch app that lost the connection mid-set. Squall is the opposite of that. It does exactly what you need it to, it looks the way a tool you reach for every day should look, and it keeps your training on your device instead of asking you to sign up for anything. That's the calm before the storm.”
